The fantasy world of the roguelike Caves of Qud differs from others in that it develops along with the main character. All the creatures on the map, be it disgusting monsters or other heroes, follow a certain goal, encountering problems and trying to overcome them. Why, every meeting becomes fateful, because having cut short the life of another “scoundrel,” he may in fact turn out to be a good guy who ended up in the wrong place.

The main feature of the game is supposed to be simple graphics, combining several sprites. The decision system appears in dialog boxes, and you can follow the protagonist’s adventures through the classic event window. An equally important feature was the presence of a completely destructible world. Everything can be burned, frozen, chopped, etc. The project implements plot-based, static and randomly generated tasks.

Initially, the character does not differ much until he chooses one of 24 classes and 70 mutations. The latter completely transform the appearance of the hero, adding a head, flaming limbs, wings or several arms. External changes are complemented by factions, of which there are over 60. Explore this world, fight with legendary warriors and forever add your name to the annals of history.
